Telling your story
One of the things I love to do with my couples is have them tell me their love story. Sometimes I do this with both parties. Sometimes I do this individually, If the couples tell me their stories individually, all sorts of amusing story lines come through. One Groom shared that he though his future Bride was just trying to get him to buy her drinks. The Bride reported she thought he was a bit pompous and had no interest in him. When these two views were put together the guests loved it! Even the couple got a few good laughs!
When all three of us meet together memories are refreshed. Important details come back into focus. You might be surprised how a single moment in you love story stayed with your partner.
What is most important to you?
Regardless of the backgrounds or gender identification of my couples I want to discover what is most important to them. Your ceremony is a reflection of who you are as a couple. Some people want to retain a traditional ceremony. Some people want to go beyond tradition to include rituals and ceremonies others haven’t done time and again. There is even room to combine both these directions. When it comes to the perfect wedding ceremony who you are comes first.
Personal Vows
During your personal vows (should you choose to use them) your Love Story can come through as well. Imagine the delight on your partners face when you tell them something truly heart-felt. I remember when one partner told the other how they felt after the first date. They shared that when they got home they felt as if a part of themselves had been left behind. Tears I tell you, tears all the way around!
Not the end of your love story
Your wedding day is not the end of your love story. In fact your wedding day is just a marker along your pathway. Keep reminding yourselves that the love story is still unfolding. Remember each day is another chapter.
